Private patients may contact us directly for an assessment whilst NHS patients must be referred by an NHS dentist. The first visit is a fact finding exercise and it will give you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the practice and staff.
The Orthodontist will assess your malocclusion by looking at your teeth, smile, and facial appearance. The Orthodontist will also examine the cleanliness and health of your teeth. Photographs are sometimes taken. If required, X-rays may either be taken at this appointment or otherwise scheduled for a subsequent visit.
The Orthodontist may explain:
1- How your teeth are different from what is considered to be an ideal set of teeth.
2- Whether treatment will benefit you and the best timing for it to begin.
3- The different treatment techniques possible.
4- The duration of treatment.
5- Any cost that may be involved.
Please note that you will not be offered Orthodontic treatment unless your teeth are healthy, and your oral hygiene is satisfactory.
