Orthodontic Treatment First Steps

A Journey To Straight Teeth

When I was a teenager I was unhappy with the appearance of my smile. My teeth were crowded and out of line and I rarely smiled. There was no internet and generally, a limited access to information about Orthodontics. I later attended boarding school and one of my room-mates walked in wearing braces. I asked what they were and where he got them. That was the beginning of my journey into the world of Orthodontics. I never looked back. Having had my teeth straightened has given me the confidence to smile. I was so impressed and overwhelmed with the positive effect on my life that I decided to become an Orthodontist and help transform the lives of others.

Questions You Should Ask Yourself

Do I need treatment?

The first step to is to determine whether you’re happy with the position of your teeth and your smile. If you are not, then you should see an Orthodontist for a consultation. To book an appointment click here.

What are the benefits of having straight teeth?

The most noticeable outcome of straightening teeth is a BEAUTIFUL SMILE and FACIAL AESTHETICS. Most patients who have had treatment express a sense of well being and greater confidence in their appearance and social interaction with others. Studies have shown that people with straight teeth are perceived as being more attractive, intelligent, and successful. It is much easier to brush and floss with straight teeth and when the bite is corrected, the teeth sometimes function better. Speech may improve in some situations however, this is not guaranteed.

Why see an Orthodontist?

Orthodontics is a speciality within dentistry that is concerned with straightening the teeth and jaws and is best treated by a specialist. You will most likely be given more comprehensive treatment options by an Orthodontist. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR SKILL & EXPERIENCE. It can take as long as twelve years of training to become an Orthodontist.

A Consultation or a Free Assessment?

At our clinics, a consultation is a 30-40 minute appointment with the Orthodontist who will take photographs, examine your teeth, answer your questions and will send you a report. To arrange an appointment to see us please click here. We offer a 15 minute Free Assessment to family members of our patients.

How to choose an Orthodontist?

I choose trades people by recommendation. There’s no substitute for someone sharing their good experience with you. Orthodontics is no different.

Can I trust the Orthodontic opinion?

Orthodontics is a science as well as an art. Opinions can vary greatly as to the type of brace you may have, if teeth should be removed, or if jaw surgery is needed. Choose a recommended Orthodontist and ask questions like “show me before and after photos of a similar case you’ve treated”.

How much does treatment cost?

The cost of treatment depends on the type of brace that you choose and the complexity of the treatment. We provide an interest-free instalment option that does not involve credit checks. For a list of our fees please click here.
