1. The appliance is broken or loose

Remove it if you can. Call us to book an appointment for a repair or replacement.

2. A part of the appliance is sharp

Place wax, BraceEze, or soft sugar-free gum over any poking sharp part. Call to book an appointment.

3. Getting an ulcer

Place wax, BraceEze, or soft sugar-free gum over any part that is causing the irritation. If this doesn't help call for us for an appointment. In the meantime, rinse twice-daily using an antiseptic mouthrinse such as Corsodyl.

4. Painful or loose teeth

It is normal to experience sore teeth during the treatment. It is also normal that the teeth become loose- it's the only way that they will move.

Take a painkiller to help and continue to chew as normal. If you have severe pain and more than a week has gone by- please contact us for an appointment.

5. Injury from a Headgear

We consider any injury to the face an urgent emergency that requires immediate attention and possibly antibiotics. If the injury is to an eye please make your way to A&E immediately.
